Pennie painted her first pet portrait when she was twelve and has received many requests over the years to paint animal portraits including dogs, cats (large and domestic), rabbits and even hamsters so Pennie’s Pet Portraits was launched in September 2017,  since when she has completed all the animals in the portrait gallery.

Pennie works from her own original source material and photographs, however, sometimes, this can prove impossible as the pet may have passed on or live abroad; in this situation, she works  from the client's own digital photos. A video of the pet at play or in its home surroundings can be helpful for gauging the character and personality of the pet.

Pennie works  in pastel, both soft and oil, acrylic or watercolour,  whichever  she finds best for getting to grips with her  subject. She  enjoys the intimacy that working in pastel creates.

Pennie 's Studio is in  Eastbourne, East Sussex where she has  worked as an artist for over 25 years.

Commissions are usually completed in two weeks, longer on the run up to Christmas, and then  work  is handed over to  Sarah of The Picture Framers, to complete the work for the client.  Each finished piece of work is as unique as its subject.

Clients have included: the Reverend Richard Coles' Dachshunds; Strictly's Karen Hauer's rescue dogs Betty, Marley and Phoebe (;  Variety the Children's Charity ( auction winners [Rafa, Havanese] ; Embrace Charity auction winners )[Topsy, Cavalier King Charles ]; The Grand Order of Water Rats charity ( auction winners; American Actor, Joanna Lipari's Jazz, Hotshot and Xray; author Tessa Dahl; the Royal Family and Pennie's work is in the UK, Switzerland, Italy, France, USA and Down Under in Australia.
